This is Why Open Records Laws Exist
I’ve had many similar questions regarding the Saddleback Road District and money spent with no oversight. I’ve requested access to Public Records since Oct of ’24, and they continue to ignore me. Among the records I requested access to are the financials. The treasurer, Crystal Farrokhi, and the generally accepted president (though we still contend he is not a legal trustee), along with Matthew Christensen, have yet to respond. They did have their lawyer respond, but outside the legal 10 day window they had, and he simply attempted to extort me.
We have to have access to these records. By law, we do have a right to them, but when you can’t get support from the governmental entities created to audit just such issues, and you are on your own to hold tyrants accountable, you have to fight tooth and nail, it does suck. Just know you are not alone.
I’m updating this post with this new video (1/27/25). This is why we have Open Records Laws. Now if these laws just had some teeth. Or at least teeth that would be used. In South Dakota a violation of these laws could result up to a $50 a day fine. But it’s not going to happen through the Office of Hearing Examiners. It appears to be up to us again, to bring legal action against this rogue board. That fine per day would go to a state fund. Which is fine with us, as this was never about the money. This is about accountability.
