Pro Se Win!
I’m providing a video for other Pro Se’s to feel some inspiration. If you are standing on the law, stand tall. I can only imagine what this man has been through. My battle is with a small local government entity, who while has far too much power and is abusing it, does not have the sort of power this man is up against.
Even when you know you are right, there is fear that the retaliation could destroy your life and home. I get it. Trust me. It might be one of the reasons it took us so long to pull our heads out of the sand. We live here. This is where we want to grow old and die. We didn’t buy here as an investment. We have already seen they are fully capable of retaliation by destroying our road with no second thought or by continually trying to apply public and social pressure among the people who live in the area- I no longer call them neighbors.
This man is dealing with far more power. I tip my hat and choke down a few tears because I have the barest inkling of what he is dealing with, and it is terrifying.
However, we are all responsible for this. All of us have to hold our “government’ accountable. We cannot let them get away with anything. We have to throw light on them. We cannot allow them to scurry back into their holes and hide their misdeeds.
As we have turned our blind eyes from them, they were emboldened. We had more police officers abusing their positions. We had more politicians doing as they wished. This is on us. And the solution is on us, too. A lot of light. All the time.
Record meetings. Publish records. Shy away from nothing. They work for us. They answer to us. And like a misbehaved child, they must be watched and held accountable for everything.
